Family Practice Associates
of Western Kansas, LLC
A recent politician made a big deal
about his roots being in Kansas. Being born at St. Anthony's Hospital by Dr. A.
B. Bush certainly qualifies a person is having roots Dodge City. Dr. Trotter
has such roots. He went to school in several small towns in Kansas then
attended Sterling College and graduated from KU School of Pharmacy. After
graduating from KU School of Medicine in 1974 he did a residency in Family
Medicine at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Indiana and got a MS in Health
Sciences from Ball State University. He and his family moved to Minneola 1977.
The current business of Family Practice
Associates actually started in the basement of their house where Doc and Mary
started this practice while the office on Sixth Street was being remodeled. In
1982 the office on Sixth Street was opened. In 1986 FPA moved to its current
location at 120 Ross and Dr. Merrill Conant, a Cimarron native, joined the
practice. In 2000 the practice was incorporated into Family Practice Associates
of Western Kansas, LLC. The building was expanded at that time. In 2006 Dr.
Tanya Williams, a Dodge City native, joined the practice. Recent upgrades have
been the addition of digital x-ray and electronic medical record. Both of these
assist the practitioners in the care of the patients. This July Dr Eric Hetzel
and Dr. Jeremy Presley have joined the practice. Dr. Presley is a Dodge City
graduate and Dr. Hetzel is from Wichita. They both did their Family Medicine
training at Via Christi Hospitals in Wichita.
Family Medicine includes the care of
newborns, children, adolescents and adults. Family Physicians have skills in
the care of pregnant women and their delivery including, if so trained, the
ability to do cesarean sections. Our physicians can do screening endoscopy
including colonoscopy. Sports medicine and some orthopedics is also within the
scope of the practice. The physicians at FPAWK can also do counseling as well as
having a licensed counselor on staff. They also have two ARNP’s to also serve
the patients. Family Practice Associates of Western Kansas can provide a broad
range of medical services as well as being committed to Dodge City and Western
Kansas.
